Super Tooth Day!
Yesterday, Saturday, June 9th, both Ethan and Alex lost a tooth! And not only did they both lose a tooth, they lost the exact same tooth (right lower bicuspid) on the same day–only hours apart! We checked in the baby books and this particular tooth was the very first tooth Alex cut. So he is proud of it. His permanent tooth has already grown in behind it, so we were eager for the baby tooth to fall out. But he took good care of the tooth, we pointed out that since he cut this tooth first, he has been taking care of it (and it of him) the longest.
Both of the teeth came out in the same way (Mom + tissue paper gripping the bottom of the tooth). Alex’s came out in the morning in the bathroom–it was really hanging on by a thread. By the time he said “ow”, the tooth was out. Ethan’s came later in the evening. His was not quite as loose, but Mom was frustrated with her knitting so she got the tooth out pretty quick.
Both Ethan and Alex put the teeth under their pillow tonight (Sunday) and are anxiously awaiting the tooth fairy. Alex built an elaborate home for his tooth: a large wooden treasure chest he painted yesterday housing a tiny tooth-sized treasure chest to hold the tooth. Ethan put the tooth in a pretty round mint container. They then stacked up their pillows so that the teeth would have a “cave” for the tooth fairy to find and rest in.
